STATEHOOD DAY
( Editorial: --> 7655 )
ZAGREB, May 29 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Saturday received numerous letters of congratulations on the
occasion of Croatia's Statehood Day.
Among others, he received letters from UN Secretary-General Kofi
Annan and Croat member of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency,
Kresimir Zubak.
As the UN continues to adjust to the needs of the increasingly
globalised period, it is exceptionally important that it can count
on a stronger and constant support from Croatia, Annan said in his
letter.
Zubak recalled that the "establishment of the independent Croatian
state realised the aspiration of all the Croatian people".
"The same is the aspiration that Croatia realises its full
political, economic and cultural development and spiritual
renaissance, and as such, be integrated into the free western
world, to which it belongs as full member and equal factor," Zubak
said in his letter.
