PRISTINA, April 28 (Hina) - Four Serb soldiers were killed and two
wounded in conflicts between Kosovo Albanians and the Yugoslav army
in the Decani municipality, Kosovo, on Monday, Pristina's Albanian
daily "Koha Ditore" said Tuesday, citing sources from the Djakovica
medical centre.
The Yugoslav army has not officially confirmed that there had been
any casualties. The army's command in Nis issued a statement Monday
claiming that the Yugoslav troops securing the border had been
attacked Monday morning from nearby villages, adding that the
attack had been "synchronised with the attempt of planting another
group of terrorists and armament from Albania".
The Yugoslav soldiers "returned fire, killing three of the
terrorists and capturing four," the statement said.
Ţhe Djakovica morgue still holds the bodies of the three Albanians.
The identities of the men has not yet been established, and there is
no exact information about the number of Albanians wounded in the
conflict.
Kosovo Albanian sources in Pristina confirmed that due to new
tensions and the clustering of Yugoslav army troop in the border
belt, the Albanian residents of the villages of Gjonaj, Mazrek,
Planej, Gorozhup and others have begun to flee to Prizren and
surrounding villages since Monday night.
