PRISTINA, April 9 (Hina) - Tens of thousands of Kosovo Albanians
held a half-hour peaceful rally in Kosovo's capital Pristina on
Thursday.
The rally was held in protest against violence and government
terror. They asked for the withdrawal of Serbian police from Kosovo
and recognition of Kosovo's independence.
Protesters again called on international factors to urgently
intervene and stop the Serbian terror in Kosovo, and thus avoid war
and all its incalculable consequences.
Serbian police blocked the main street in Pristina, but the
protesters gathered in front of the building of the former province
government and in adjacent streets.
Leading the protesters were leaders of Albanian political parties
and non-government organisations, as well as heads of the Albanian
University in Pristina and the Independent Union of Albanian
Students.
The protest was organised by 14 political and non-political
organisations in Kosovo headed by the most numerous Kosovo Albanian
party - The Democratic Union of Kosovo.
The peaceful rally ended without incidents, according to
preliminary information.
