ZAGREB, Apr 21 (Hina) - With seven specialised international fairs,
the Zagreb Trade Fair this year again registers a growth, which is a
reflection of the total growth of Croatian economy, Croatian
Premier Zlatko Matesa said Tuesday opening the spring edition of
the Zagreb Trade Fair.
The seven specialised fairs featuring 2,580 exhibitors, including
1,227 from 43 countries, are international fairs of consumer goods,
trade, agriculture, food products, construction, packaging, and
the children's fair.
Croatia's economy and finance must meet European criteria, the
Premier said, adding that bearing in mind the recent war, Croatia
had achieved commendable economic results in the last seven years.
The government's aim is political and economic stability, clear
business conditions, lower labour costs and higher competition in
economy, Matesa said.
He announced measures would soon be passed to the effect of lowering
contributions assessed on personal incomes and taxes and
contributions on wages and salaries, to come into effect July 1.
The seven international fairs at this year's spring trade fair will
close April 25. This edition will also include more than 25 expert
conferences.
Zagreb Trade Fair managing director Jurica Pavelic expects more
than 150,000 visitors.
Attending today's opening were also representatives of the
Croatian National Parliament, the government, the judiciary, the
City of Zagreb, as well as foreign guests.
After the opening speech, Premier Matesa visited the exhibitions.
