SARVAS/ERDUT, April 13 (Hina) - Officials of the Croatian National
Trust Establishment Committee and representatives of the Osijek
Regional Office for Refugees and Displaced persons on Monday
visited families of returnees in Sarvas and Erdut in the eastern
Croatian Danubian region.
President of the National Trust Establishment Committee, Vesna
Skare Ozbolt, told reporters that this year's Easter marked the
return of Croatian displaced persons and the end to a difficult
period of exile.
"We celebrate Easter in peace and joy and it heralds a better life
for all returnees," Skare-Ozbolt said.
She added that the general security situation in the Croatian
Danube River region was satisfactory, creating conditions for a
more massive return.
Head of the Osijek Office for Refugees and Displaced Persons, Nada
Arbanas, said 37 families had returned to Sarvas so far, and about
5,000 persons with returnee status have been registered in the
Osijek-Baranja County.
Officials of the National Trust Establishment Committee will also
visit returnee families in Vukovar and Ilok.
