NATO EUROPE COMMANDER SATISFIED WITH "DYNAMIC RESPONSE" EXERCISE

( Editorial: --> 4495 ) GLAMOCKO POLJE, April 3 (Hina) - NATO's Europe commander, General Wesley Clark, on Friday expressed satisfaction with the "Dynamic Response" exercise conducted by SFOR'S Strategic Reserve Forces in Bosnia-Herzegovina." SFOR is strong enough to face any challenge on the ground, he said. Gen. Clark held a press conference after the main event of the "Dynamic Response" exercise - a combined drill using live ammunition, called "Dynamic Strike". The drill was held at a military artillery range in Glamocko Polje (western Bosnia) and involved military units from eight countries, showing off the firepower of their aircraft, artillery, tanks and infantry weapons. Asked whether he had a message for the citizens of Bosnia- Herzegovina, Clark urged the inhabitants to trust and believe that the war will not start all over again. Peace will be preserved, the Dayton Agreement implemented and Bosnia will become a part of Europe, Clark foretold. Asked to elaborate on yesterday's drill which involved the surrounding of former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic's home at Pale, Clark said the goal had been to record and identify members of the Republika Srpska special police who are guarding the facilities. These units are the last contingent of this entity's special police which has not followed SFOR's instruction, Clark said, stressing that NATO would not tolerate paramilitary forces in Bosnia- Herzegovina. Asked to comment on Croatian President Franjo Tudjman's suggestion to demilitarise Bosnia-Herzegovina, Clark said he could only reiterate the view of the Contact Group and the international community, to the effect that this proposal was not in accordance with the Dayton Agreement.
