MOHACS, Apr 3 (Hina) - A memorandum on cooperation in road transport
was signed in Mohacs, Hungary, Friday, by Croatian and Hungarian
Transport Ministers Zeljko Luzavec and Karoly Lotz.
The memorandum primarily refers to the development of corridor V-c
Budapest-Osijek-Ploce, i.e. the building of 85 km of motorway from
Ilacka, Hungary, across Slavonia, Croatia, to the Croatian border
with Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The said corridor was determined last June at the Third All-
European Transport Conference held in Helsinki. Croatian territory
was then included in the network of transport corridors of
significance for all Europe.
Preparations for the building of the motorway should begin this
year.
Croatia's Luzavec said the memorandum was significant for
Croatia's future economic development. The Transport Minister
recalled that 80 km of a motorway connecting Rijeka, Zagreb and the
Hungarian border were built in Croatia last year.
The signing of the memorandum should also improve railway
connections. The two countries also confirmed an interest in
establishing and improving transport connections between Central
Europe and the Adriatic Sea, alongside the extant Budapest-Zagreb-
Rijeka motorway.
