SKARE-OZBOLT: NO PROBLEMS IN RETURN OF SERBS TO UNA RIVER REGION

( Editorial: --> 3508 ) HRVATSKA KOSTAJNICA, March 30 (Hina) - National Trust Establishment Committee president Vesna Skare-Ozbolt on Monday visited the Una River region, 80km south-east of Zagreb. Skare-Ozbolt met the mayor of Hrvatska Kostajnica and municipal heads of Dvor, Hrvatska Dubica, Donji Kukuruzari and Majur. The talks, held behind closed doors, were also attended by committee vice-president Ivica Vrkic and committee members Martin Katicic and Milorad Pupovac. Skare-Ozbolt said the talks focused on the situation in the region, the normalisation of relations between people and the status of Bosnian Croats who have been settled in the region. No one can be evicted from the house they currently occupy until adequate accommodation is provided, Skare-Ozbolt said, adding the most important issue was regulating property and legal relations. Speaking about the return of Serbs to the region, Skare-Ozbolt said return had to be organised in line with the agreement on two-way return and recalled that recently there had been no incidents in the return of Serbs to the region. Committee member Pupovac said members of the National Trust Establishment Committee were informed about the situation in the region as well as about difficulties, especially in solving property and legal issues and buying off property. Committee vice-president Vrkic said the government's Agency for Facilitating Real Estate Transactions had so far bought around 1,000 homes. Efforts were made with the aim of speeding up that process and it was expected that 100 homes a day would be bought off in the region in near future, Vrkic said. (hina) mm rm /mb 302019 MET mar 98
