BRCKO, Mar 12 (Hina) - NATO Secretary-General Javier Solana and
NATO commander for Europe General Wesley Clark Thursday held talks
with the mayor of Brcko and his associates which focused on a
forthcoming arbitration decision on Brcko.
Brcko is a town in north-eastern Bosnia-Herzegovina which connects
the east and west of the Bosnian Serb entity and the Croat-Muslim
Federation of BH with major Central European waterways.
Solana suggested that both the Croat Muslim and the Bosnian Serb
side accept the decision international commissioner for Brcko
Robert Owens is expected to disclose on Sunday.
Solana told reporters he was satisfied with the development of the
Dayton peace agreement following a temporary arbitration decision
reached in Rome last year.
The NATO Secretary-General believed Brcko could be an example for
the whole country. He also commended the work of the team which
worked in Brcko.
According to the Dayton agreement, a decision on Brcko's fate is to
be reached by an international arbitration commission. Since an
earlier decision had been postponed, an international commissioner
was appointed for the town.
Brcko Mayor Borko Reljic said Owens' decision would be implemented
peacefully and without obstructions.
