PRISTINA, March 6 (Hina) - Ambassadors of Contact Group member-
states, headed by British Ambassador Joseph Brian Donnelly, on
Friday arrived in Kosovo in order to get acquainted with the latest
developments.
The ambassadors, accredited to Belgrade, held separate talks with
the leaders of Kosovo Albanians and Serbian authorities on both
local and republic levels.
According to the Kosovo Information Secretariat, the Contact Group
ambassadors stressed that the current situation could be overcome
through negotiations and urgent implementation of an agreement on
the Albanian education system, which would be the first step
towards lessening tensions and normalising the situation in the
area.
In the afternoon, the ambassadors met Albanian leaders. A statement
from the meeting, which is being held behind closed doors, will be
issued later.
The meeting was called with the aim of collecting data on the latest
developments in Kosovo, which is to be discussed by Contact Group
members in London on Monday, the ambassadors said.
