HDZ CONDEMNS DISTURBANCE OF PEACE

( Editorial: --> 2395 ) ZAGREB, Feb 16 (Hina) - The Presidency of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on Monday condemned the disturbance of the peace which occurred at a Party of Rights rally in Vukovar on Saturday. The HDZ Presidency session, chaired by President Franjo Tudjman, condemned this episode, describing it as "politically harmful and unacceptable". The Presidency stressed the responsibility of all Croatian political parties to promote the fundamental Croatian national interests, the HDZ Secretary-General's Office said on Monday in a statement. The HDZ Presidency called on all competent Government bodies to ensure the consistent implementation of the confidence-building policy, the return of the displaced and the normalisation of life in the Croatian Danube area, and to prevent any incidents caused by extremist groups, the statement said.
