ZAGREB, Feb 24 (Hina) - A protest by a convoy of 300 taxi drivers
through the streets of Zagreb ended on Tuesday with the delivery of
a letter to the Justice Ministry.
The taxi drivers state that they are expressing their
dissatisfaction with the inadmissible mild treatment of murderers
and attackers of taxi drivers.
In the letter, taxi drivers propose that penalties for such
attackers should become harsher.
Copies of the letter were delivered to the Supreme Court of Croatia
and the Education and Sports Ministry.
Taxi drivers also protested today in 17 other Croatian towns.
In the past month in Croatia, three attacks on taxi drivers have
been noted. Two of these attacks were fatal. Some of the attackers
were juveniles.
