FOURTH HDZ CONVENTION STARTS IN ZAGREB

( Editorial: --> 3626 ) ZAGREB, Feb 21 (Hina) - The fourth general convention of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), entitled "Security and Future of the People and State" started in Zagreb on Saturday. After the sounding of the Croatian national anthem "Lijepa nasa", the two-day convention was opened by the HDZ President Franjo Tudjman. Tudjman held an introductory speech entitled "The Historical Role and Programme Tasks of the HDZ in the Future Period". Along with Tudjman, 17 other party officials will deliver their speeches during the convention. The agenda of the convention also includes the election of the party president and the vice president, as well as the election of members of HDZ main bodies. Following the adoption of a declaration, Tudjman will deliver a speech closing the convention. The HDZ convention is attended by HDZ members from Croatia and abroad, representatives of political parties from Croatia and other European countries, members of the diplomatic corps acreditted to Croatia and the media.
