BOSNIAN CROAT OFFICIALS SPEAK ABOUT THEIR POLICY IN BH

( Editorial: --> 1993 ) MOSTAR, Feb 14 (Hina) - Croat officials in bodies of authority of the Croat-Muslim Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Bosnia- Herzegovina Saturday spoke about the oversights of Bosnian Croat policy in BH. The officials spoke at the second convention of the Croat Community of Herzeg Bosna, held today in Mostar. According to the Croat member in the Bosnian Presidency, Kresimir Zubak, local individuals were blocking the implementation of peace agreements. "On account of such occurrences we are accused of being against the implementation of the agreements, of not being inclined towards democracy and of intolerance", Zubak told the convention. He called on Bosnian Croat officials to change through practice the "bad impression" a part of the international community had of Bosnian Croats on account of some irresponsible individuals. Zubak stressed the importance of respecting human rights, free association of unions, non-government organisations and freedom of religion. Bosnian Foreign Minister Jadranko Prlic agreed with Zubak that "unacceptable behaviour of individuals is creating a negative picture of our whole people". The president of the Croatian Democratic Union of BH, Bozo Rajic, denied accusations that Croats advocate the destruction of BH. We succeeded in including the Croatian Community of Herzeg Bosna (HZHB) into the project of the Croat-Muslim Bosnian Federation and a two-entity Bosnia-Herzegovina (the other being the Bosnian Serb entity), said Rajic, pointing out the HZHB was the umbrella institution of the Croat people throughout BH. The vice-president of the Bosnian Federation, Vladimir Soljic, recalled that more than half the pre-war number of Bosnian Croats lived outside the country. He called on them to return. Prlic said that "international mediators sometimes set over- ambitious goals". (hina) ha 142207 MET feb 98
