VUKOVAR, Feb 14 (Hina) - The National Committee for the restoration
of trust Saturday condemned a disturbance of public order and peace
which took place during a gathering of the Croatian Party of Rights
(HSP) in Borovo Naselje, a district of Vukovar, eastern Croatia.
"During a party gathering of the HSP in Borovo Naselje, certain
members of the party through inappropriate behaviour disturbed
public order and peace in Vukovar", the Committee said in a
statement.
The Committee demanded that competent state authorities take legal
measures against individuals who imperilled order and peace, and
condemned the behaviour which damaged the results achieved in the
peaceful reintegration of the Danube river region of eastern
Croatia.
Such attempts aimed at aggravating political relations slow the
return to, reconstruction and development of the Vukovar-Srijem
County, the Committee said, adding this inappropriate behaviour
was of help only to extremists who had demolished Vukovar and
expelled its residents.
No one can be permitted to disturb the restoration of trust and
normalisation of relations and living, which are crucial for
lasting peace in Croatia, the statement said.
The National Committee condemns these incidents and holds the
party's leaders politically responsible, the statement
concluded.
