STOCKHOLM, Feb 1 (Hina) - Croatia has been faced with many issues
after the war, especially regarding refugees and freedom of the
media, but has already achieved a certain progress in those fields,
Council of Europe Secretary General Daniel Tarschys told Swedish
radio Eko Saturday.
Asked to comment on a statement by Croatian Foreign Minister Mate
Granic, who said Croatia was an "exemplary democratic country",
Tarschys said it was in general difficult to find such a country
today, but that Croatia's cooperation with the Organisation for
Security and Cooperation in Europe in implementing Council of
Europe regulations on the protection of human rights was good.
