ZAGREB, 30 Jan (Hina) - The World Bank has agreed to start working on
a project to help the Croatian school system.
The agreement was reached on Friday at a meeting between two
representatives of the World Bank office in Zagreb and Education
and Sports Minister Ljilja Vokic.
Education experts from the World Bank and Croatian Education
Ministry personnel are working on the project, with the final aid
programme expected to be completed by the middle of 1999.
Minister Vokic mentioned several fundamental projects in the
school system which she says need financial support. These include
programmes of individualised instruction in which 70 per cent of
school programmes would be decided by the ministry, while the rest
would be chosen by the school or the students themselves.
Others include equipping schools with modern technology and other
tuition equipment, the building of sports halls in schools and
rebuilding destroyed or damaged schools.
