180 PASSENGERS RIDE SPECIAL TRAIN FROM ZAGREB TO VUKOVAR

( Editorial: --> 0180 ) VUKOVAR, 15 Jan (Hina) - A special train, organised by the UNTAES, on the route Zagreb - Vukovar - Zagreb, arrived at the Borovo railway station in Vukovar at 11.15 hours Thursday, with high state officials and other guests who attended a ceremony marking the completion of the UNTAES mission in Croatia. The special train left Zagreb's central train station at 08.17 hours, carrying 180 passengers - Croatian high state officials, displaced people, domestic and foreign journalists and numerous other guests. Aboard the train were also members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Croatia, representatives of international organisations and special UNTAES guests. High state officials aboard the train were headed by Hrvoje Sarinic, the Croatian President's Chief Of Staff and signatory to the Basic Agreement on the peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danube River region, which enabled the implementation of the peaceful reintegration of that part of Croatia. Upon arrival, the guests were taken on a bus tour of Vukovar. Following the tour they attended an UNTAES-organised ceremony at the Borovo cinema at which Hrvoje Sarinic received the UN Resolution 1145, dated 19 December 1997, which confirms the completion of the UNTAES mandate in Croatia's Danube River region on 15 January 1998. The ceremony was also attended by Parliament vice presidents Vladimir Seks and Jadranka Kosor, deputy premiers Mate Granic, Ivica Kostovic and Jure Radic, the president and vice president of the National Committee for the restoration of trust, Vesna Skare- Ozbolt and Ivica Vrkic respectively, the Croatian Ambassador to the UN, Ivan Simonovic, and the Croatian army's chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Pavao Miljavac. Representatives of the Serb national minority in Croatia were also present. International guests included the U.S. President's special envoy for the implementation of the Dayton peace agreement, Robert Gelbard, the deputy international High Representative for the implementation of the Dayton agreement and former UN transitional administrator for eastern Croatia, Jacques Klein, and former U.S. Ambassador to Croatia Peter Galbraith.
