CROATIA TO OFFICIALLY MARK END OF UNTAES MANDATE

( Editorial: --> 4194 ) ZAGREB, 13 Jan (Hina) - The completion of the UNTAES mandate in Croatia will be marked with a series of official events in the next several days. On Thursday morning, 15 January, a special train carrying high Croatian state officials, members of the diplomatic corps and displaced people-returnees will leave the main railway station in Zagreb for Vukovar. It is expected that a high Croatian state delegation will be led by Presidential Chief Of Staff and signatory to the Basic Agreement on the Peaceful Reintegration of the Croatian Danube river region, Hrvoje Sarinic. The train will stop in Vinkovci and Borovo naselje. Passengers will go on a tour round Vukovar in buses. An official ceremony will then take place in the cinema in Borovo naselje. After the performance of the U.N. anthem, guests will be addressed by representatives of the United Nations and Croatian authorities, as well as by the UN Transitional Administrator William Walker. The event will continue with performances by the Croatian and Serb cultural societies and a concert by the military orchestra of the Belgian Royal Navy. A concert will be held in the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb on the same day. On Friday, 16 January, President Tudjman will present decorations to deserving individuals who helped speed up the peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danube river region.
