VUKOVAR, Dec 15 (Hina) - Max van der Stoel, high commissioner of the
Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) for
ethnic minorities, visited the UN-administered Danube river region
of eastern Croatia.
In Vukovar, he met the head of the UN Transitional Administration in
the region William Walker, OSCE officials and leaders of the Joint
Council of Serb-dominated Municipalities and the town government
for talks on the process of peaceful reintegration of the region
into Croatia and the two-way return of refugees and displaced
people.
After talks with Vukovar deputy mayor Stipe Seremet, Van der Stoel
told reporters he was interested in the reconstruction of the town
and the establishment of inter-ethnic trust.
