ZAGREB, Dec 21 (Hina) - Four unions of the Tisak distribution
company on Tuesday again announced they would begin a general
strike at 2pm on December 22, unless Finance Minister Borislav
Skegro guarantees that the Government would, at the first upcoming
session, adopt the programme of restructuring the company and carry
it out in full.
The Government is expected to hold a session on December 23.
After the last closed session held last Thursday, the Government
announced the Tisak issue would be discussed "at the first upcoming
session".
Minister Skegro, delegated by Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa to
discuss the restructuring programme of the distribution company,
had not yet replied to unions' requests.
The unions had on December 16 organised a two-hour warning strike to
"harshly call on" the Government to finally place the Tisak issue on
the agenda.
They said none of the Government's decisions about restructuring,
reached during the unions' two-hour strike in April, had not been
realised to this day.
As Tisak is Croatia's largest newspaper distribution company,
should the strike come about on Tuesday, most of Croatia could again
be left without daily newspapers, as had happened in April.
