ZAGREB ZAGREB, Dec 21 (Hina) - About one hundred workers of Zagreb's "Savric" furniture factory protested Tuesday by blocking tram traffic in the centre of the city. The employees are protesting because the factory's Creditors'
Committee, which held a session earlier in the day, had not accepted the demands of the Croatian Workers' Alliance. According to the Alliance's president, Mario Ivekovic, nothing had been done to restructure Savric, there are less and less jobs, work contracts are expiring and decisions are even being made about the selling of Savric's production lines and the removal of the company's machinery. Describing the protest as a move of the desperate, but the only possible one, Ivekovic said negotiations were underway with Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa and Government representatives to receive a workers' delegation for talks.(hina) lml
