ZAGREB, Dec 12 (Hina) - There will be 54 parties and 30 candidates of national minorities at Croatia's parliamentary election, called for 3 January 2000, said the State Election Commission's head, Marijan Ramuscak. The deadline for
submitting lists and candidacy to the Commission expired at midnight December3 11.

national minorities at Croatia's parliamentary election, called

The deadline for submitting lists and candidacy to the Commission

A total of 278 lists will be for all electoral units.
Thirty five (35) parties will take part in the election
individually, and 14 coalitions and 20 independent candidates will
be included.
About 4,100 candidates have applied to the Commission for the
election.
The Zagreb constituency has the largest number of registered lists
(31).
The State Election Commission has to check all candidacies by
midnight December 13 and establish whether they are valid.
On Tuesday the Commission should announce valid candidacies when
the pre-election campaign begins officially.
