Tudjman. "I am deeply saddened at the passing of His Excellency Franjo Tudjman, whom I always considered a close friend", read a telegram Demirel sent to Croatian Parliament President and acting President of the Republic, Vlatko Pavletic. "Tudjman, whose death is a great loss for the Croatian people, will be remembered for his historic role in the establishment of Croatia's independence and the country's development", Demirel said. Pavletic also received a letter of condolence from Romanian President Emil Constantinescu.(hina) rml
