ZAGREB, Dec 6 (Hina) - The housing fund in the eastern Croatian town
of Vukovar has been completed and according to the list, out of the
total 5,809 flats, somewhat less than 4,000 have been
reconstructed, while 1,847 are still not for use.
A report on the list of flats owned by the state of Croatia and the
town of Vukovar and their residents has been drawn up so as to avoid
double usage and misuse and to help displaced persons return to
their homes, Reconstruction, Development and Immigration Minister
Jure Radic told Monday's news conference in Zagreb.
Most attention was paid to the 1,800 flats owned by the state which
are inhabited by persons who received their tenants' rights during
the war, according to decisions of the so-called republic of srpska
krajina, those using the flats temporarily with legal decisions
made by the town of Vukovar and those who have no documents at all
and are inhabiting the flats illegally, he said.
According to Radic, Vukovar's Housing Commission will have the task
of issuing decisions about the evictions of those who have no right
to use the flats.
There are several groups of such tenants, but the first to be
evicted, within 15 days, will be those who have other
accommodation.
Those who do not have other accommodation will be issued temporary
decisions and those waiting for their flats to be reconstructed
will be moved in line to a Ministry decision reached after their
flats are reconstructed.
Accommodation in refugee centres will be offered to those who did
not have a home in Croatia before the war, Radic said.
