3RD ECONOMIC CONFERENCE OF STABILITY PACT ENDS IN BERLIN

BERLIN BERLIN, Dec 2 (Hina) - The third conference on economic cooperation of countries between the Adriatic and Black See, organised within the Stability Pact for South-eastern Europe, finished in Berlin on Thursday by the adoption of a joint declaration. The seven-point Declaration confirmed the traditional partnership between Germany and southeastern Europe, which should promote their cooperation also in the 21st century. The Stability Pact will present an instrument for settling down the entire region, establishing a market economy and helping respect human rights as prerequisites for stable development. The Declaration also recommended to German businessmen investment into the economy of the entire region covered by the Stability Pact so that the whole area of the Balkans can be more firmly tied with Europe, read the document. The participants in the two-day event expressed hope that the Pact's member-countries would simplify tax systems, introduce lower import duties and liberalise rules for foreign investors. The Declaration suggested that resources of EU and PHARE programme be used for the resolution of problems in technological education. The conference gathered 40 economic and political representatives from Germany, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia and Montenegro.
