MOSTAR, Nov 30 (Hina) - Bosniak (Moslem) officials in bodies of
authority in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, town of Mostar and
municipalities in the Canton, on Tuesday terminated a three-week
boycott and decided to continue cooperation with the Mostar
regional office of the High Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The Herzegovina-Neretva committee of the Democratic Action Party
(SDA) said in a statement there was no more reason "for Bosniak
representatives in bodies of authority not to cooperate with the
regional office of the High Representative in Mostar," as the chief
Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo had shown
determination in solving amassed problems in Herzegovina-Neretva
Canton and the town of Mostar.
The SDA recalled Monday's decision by the High Representative
Wolfgang Petritsch and the Organisation for Security and
Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mission chief to Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Robert Barry, about the dismissal of several Bosnian officials,
including the heads of four municipalities in the canton.
The dismissals are "a kind of deblockage of Herzegovina," the SDA
committee said.
Bosniak officials "froze" their relations with the Mostar regional
office of the High Representative on November 9 because, as they
said at the time, "the HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union) is
completely blocking the work of the Canton, town and municipality,
and the decisions of the High Representative and signed agreements
on Mostar are not being implemented".
