HEAVY SNOW AND FOG OBSTRUCT ROAD TRAFFIC IN CROATIA

ZAGREB, Nov 21 (Hina) - Only personal cars with necessary chains on tyres can drive along roads in some parts of Karlovac and Lika-Senj counties due to heavy snow. Other vehicles are banned from using these roads: Duga Resa - Josipdol - Senj; Korenica - Licki Osik - Gospic - Karlobag and Zuta Lokva - Gospic - Gracac, reported the Croatian Auto Club (HAK) on Sunday morning. A section "Karlobag-Senj" of the Adriatic highway is closed for all but personal cars, due to a strong gale. Snow has covered county and local roads in a greater area of Zagreb, northern and north-western Croatia. In addition, very low temperatures are likely to have caused the ice on the surface of roads. Fog reduced the visibility on the Zagreb-Krapina highway to 100 metres, while the visibility on the Gorican-Varazdin motorway was just 60 metres on Sunday morning. A ferry boat cannot only sail toward the island of Cres at the "Brestova-Porozina" line. Traffic over border crossings for Slovenia and Hungary is light. Trucks are not allowed to enter Slovenia.
