ZAGREB, Oct 18 (Hina) - The election law, the law on Croatian
Television, the upcoming parliamentary elections and the situation
in Croatia after the elections were the main topics of a meeting
between Croatian and British parliamentary representatives in
Zagreb on Monday.
The head of the British delegation, Lord Alexander Dundee, said
after the meeting the two main topics were the election law and the
law on HTV, i.e., on a fair coverage of the elections by HTV.
The meeting also tackled Croatia's economy and unemployment. Great
Britain is especially interested in the situation in the country
after the elections, in the progress of its economy, which depends
on how the international community will react to the election
results, Dundee said.
Dundee said his country wanted to see a constructive partnership
between Croatia and relevant parts of international institutions
regarding economic issues such as trade, unemployment problems,
and the finances.
Another important issue is Croatia's admission into Euro-Atlantic
integration processes as soon as possible, he added.
Asked about the cooperation with the International Criminal
Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), both opposition and
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) representatives said they were
willing to "continue cooperation and respect it".
