SARAJEVO, Nov 10 (Hina) - The Catholic church in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, which suffered great losses during the war in this
country is now facing extinction in some parts of the country,
assistant archbishop of Sarajevo, Monsignor Pero Sudar said
Wednesday.
Speaking about the conclusions of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Bishops'
Conference, Sudar told reporters the participants openly spoke
about the situation in the Church and concluded that there was a
real possibility of its perishing, primarily in the Banja Luka,
Posavina area (Bosnian Serb entity of Republika Srpska), as well as
central Bosnia.
"Such circumstances have been created mostly by the continuous
leaving of young and educated people who are being engaged by some
foreign institutions," Sudar said.
According to data available to the catholic Church in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, almost every 30 minutes a family who fled from Bosnia-
Herzegovina and is now living in Germany or Croatia is receiving
documents to leave for third countries, such as the united states or
Canada," he stressed.
People who spent the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina are also mostly
deciding to leave the country, as the funds provided by the
international community are minimally invested into the
reconstruction of Croat homes in Bosanska Krajina, Posavina and
central Bosnia.
Everything reconstructed so far was reconstructed only thanks to
the "Caritas" organisation, Sudar said.
"This occurrence can freely be described as another aggression on
Bosnia-Herzegovina. Unless young people who can reconstruct this
country return, nobody else will be able to do so," he stressed.
He also warned about the problem of education. he cited the examples
of Bugojno and Vareš (central Bosnia) where local authorities have
resorted to violently interrupt Croat schools, thus disabling
Croats to maintain their own identity, he added.
"We are teaching our children in our schools to love their people,
and respect others, because we believe that Bosnia-Herzegovina can
exist only on such foundations," Sudar said.
He warned that the international community by insisting on a joint
curriculum and education programmes was making a mistake,
repeating errors from the past.
