The ceremony was held in the Church of Assumption in Sibenik, where
the new eparch's residence is.
Eparch Fotije Vranjic was installed by Metropolitan Jovan of
Zagreb-Ljubljana and Italy.
"I, in capacity of Orthodox bishop, will do my best to help restore
spiritual and liturgical life in the eparchy of Dalmatia, to
renovate pearls of the Orthodox religion - monasteries Krupa, Krka
and Dragojevici - that have always been centres and sources of the
spiritual life, as well as to help renew religious education and up-
bringing of our youth," the newly-installed eparch said.
In the coming year, a jubilee of Christianity, I will make
additional efforts, on behalf of the Orthodox Church, to nurture
Christian ties with all people, particularly with the hierarchy and
the faithful of the Roman Catholic Church and authorities of the
Republic of Croatia, Eparch Fotije added.
The ceremony passed peacefully. Fotije succeeded Eparch Longin at
this post.
Besides a few Serb Orthodox dignitaries, about a hundred Orthodox
believers from the areas of Sibenik, Rijeka and Istria as well as
from the Bosnian Serb entity (the Republic of Srpska) attended the
ceremonial liturgy.
Present at the event were also Sibenik Catholic Bishop, Ante Ivas,
local authorities, representatives of the Jewish community,
political representatives of Croatian Serbs, representatives of
the Serb cultural society "Prosvjeta", and officials of the Bosnian
Serb entity's ministry of religion.
