The festival has been organised in Zagreb for the third time by EU
countries' embassies in cooperation with Zagreb Film. This year's
festival's organisation is headed by the Finnish Embassy.
Finnish Ambassador to Croatia Osmo Lipponen said that most films
done in EU countries were not only entertainment and did not attract
a wider audience, but pointed out that those at the festival who
love films will have the opportunity to become acquainted with
European culture.
Film, like other forms of art, builds a bridge between different
cultures and contributes to the relations between countries and
their cultures, Lipponen said.
Zagreb Deputy Mayor Vjakoslav Krizanec said the EU Film Festival
was one of the most interesting film events held in the Croatian
capital.
