"The President of the Republic, Franjo Tudjman, was admitted to the
Dubrava Clinic in the afternoon hours of 1 November, due to stomach
pains.
"After tests were performed, it was established urgent surgery was
necessary. A perforation of the diverticulum of the colon was found
during surgery, and it was successfully taken care of.
"Surgery proceeded without complications. The early post-surgical
course is successful, and President Tudjman is feeling well."
