ZAGREB, Oct 21 (Hina) - By organising farmers' protests in Slavonia on Wednesday, the Croatian Farmers' Association (HSS) wanted to demonstrate dissatisfaction with the Croatian government's agricultural policy, HSS representatives
said on Thursday. Whether and when the protests will resume depends on the government's conduct, HSS officials told a news conference in Zagreb. The Government has failed to fulfil its obligations from the June 30 Agreement, said HSS vice-president Darko Grivicic, adding the farmers have received only part of incentives for the 1998 wheat sowing and the 1999 harvest, whereas incentives for this year have been paid only in the form of reproduction material. Grivicic said the situation was similar regarding incentives for sugar beet.(hina) jn rml
