ZAGREB, Oct 21 (Hina) - A ship transporting bulk cargo sank south-west of the island of Zlarin, off the central Dalmatian town of Sibenik, at 05:30 hours Thursday. The ship went down between the islets of V. Sestrica and Plic
Sestrica, while carrying cement from Istria to Split. Three sailors were rescued from the ship, while another two members of the crew are still missing and a rescue operation is under way. Immediately upon information about the accident, this rescue operation commenced, ships have been called to assist in it and all vessels of ports' authorities and police have been engaged. The sunken 360-ton ship, owned by the Zadar-based "Anteplov", was built in 1951. Its captain is Ante Jureska, and its port of registry is Zadar. Transport and Maritime Affairs Minister Ivan Pavlovic has appointed a special commission to investigate causes of the accident.(hina) ms
