The two ministers pointed to the necessity of signing as soon as
possible an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation. Porges
acquainted Finance Minister Marto of the claims of Croatian
companies in countries of the region, and discussed the possibility
of joint Croatian-Jordanian presentations on other markets.
Porges today signed with Jordanian Economy Minister Mohamed Asfour
an agreement on the stimulation and mutual protection of
investments, and one on trade. Both parties assessed the signings
as very important as a legal framework for and incentive to both
countries' businessmen.
Porges and Asfour said Croatian and Jordanian businessmen should
intensify concrete meetings, and also pointed to the necessity of
organising economic exhibitions and reciprocal economic
delegations' visits.
The Croatian economy delegation today also visited the Jordanian
Industry and Trade Ministry, where talks focused on possibilities
of cooperation in drilling for oil and gas, and in power supply and
infrastructure projects.
Croatian businessmen and representatives of Croatia's largest
companies visited Jordan's chambers of trade and industry, where
they presented Croatia's economy and possibilities of economic
cooperation with Croatia.
Porges will on Monday, the last day of his visit to Jordan, be
received by Jordanian Premier Abdur-Rauf Ravabdeh.
