We must careful study this fascinating project with financial
institutions, d'Alema told a news conference responding to a
question about Italy's stand on this leading project which has been
presented along with other 40 odd projects by Croatia at the Bari
gathering.
D' Alema added that his country had already assumed obligations in
Corridor Eight (Drac-Salonika road direction) and Corridor Five
(Trieste-Ljubljana-Budapest direction) and that's why it has to
study carefully the feasibility and profitability of the Croatian
project, that costs 5.65 billion dollars.
In addition, Italy has decided to finance the economic recovery of
the Balkans with 220 million dollars, said the State Secretary of
the Italian Foreign Ministry, Umberto Ranieri, at the Stability
Pact's Task Force session.
