SPLIT, Sept 17 (Hina) - Former commander of the Croatian Army's 73rd military police battalion Zeljko Maglov, 39, accused of smuggling vehicles and food to Bosnia-Herzegovina in a military police vehicle and sentenced to two years in
prison with the right to appeal, was released from custody on bail Friday. The bail amounts to DM15,000 and also includes mortgage of an apartment owned by Maglov's friend. Co-defendants Ranko Rapajic,39, and Zoran Dozdor, 31, also requested to be released on bail, however, they are to remain in prison until the book keeping procedure of real estate, which the co-defendants offered as a guarantee, is completed. Maglov, Rapajic, and Dozdor were sentenced with the right to appeal on June 18, before the Split County Court in a case of the so-called "Maglov Group", which includes 16 soldiers and civilians accused of organised smuggling of vehicles and food from Croatia to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
