ZAGREB, Sept 17 (Hina) - The Croatian Association of the Unemployed on Friday sent suggestions to the Croatian National Parliament on the improvement of the position of unemployed citizens. A total of 80 per cent of the unemployed,
264,000, are not receiving assistance to pay for their basic needs, the Association's secretary, Ankica Obilan, told a news conference Friday. The suggestions forwarded to the Parliament relate to measures where "all citizens would jointly share the difficult financial and social status of the unemployed so that every employed person sets aside seven per cent of their salaries," Obilan said. She added the president of the Croatian National Parliament Vlatko Pavletic had been asked to initiate a law by which the funds from companies sold in the privatisation process should have to be invested into the opening of new jobs.(hina) lml jn
