SARAJEVO, Sept 10 (Hina) - The High Representative of the
international community in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Wolfgang
Petritsch, on Thursday said that after the significant success in
the reconstruction of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the international
community should concentrate on the thorough organisation of
Bosnia's institutions as well as economic structures.
During his speech held before the NATO Permanent Council in
Brussels on Wednesday, Petritsch stressed that the international
community should not leave an impression that it would permanently
stay in Bosnia-Herzegovina, therefore it should not take endless
obligations.
In the speech, which was forwarded to Sarajevo media, the High
Representatives proposed that crisis areas should be defined and
all available forces should be directed to the areas in order to
achieve faster Bosnia-Herzegovina's joining the Euro-Atlantic
community.
Petritsch advocated the strengthening of joint authorities in
Bosnia-Herzegovina and the establishment of fundamental
frameworks which should create a proper state. According to the
High Representative, the greatest obstacle to this goal was the
existing of nationalist political parties with minimalist approach
to the Dayton Agreement.
The High Representative believes that political parties which do
not support exclusivism and which work for the benefit of all three
nations should be strengthened.
According to the Austrian diplomat, the issue of the return of
refugees will remain the priority, and economic reforms must be
accelerated, while the struggle against the corruption must
strengthen.
He believes that forming a joint army at the state level is
unacceptable for the majority of Bosnia-Herzegovina citizens,
however, the reduction of entities' armed forces must continue.
Petritsch also requested the arrest of remaining war criminals
particularly Radovan Karadzic.
