VOJNIC, Sept 7 (Hina) - The Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) will do
all it can so that you can stay here and it will make efforts to
improve the living conditions and prevent the emigration of Bosnian
Croat refugees from Croatia, HSP president Anto Djapic told a panel
in Vojnic near Karlovac.
Speaking about the political situation in the country and Croatia's
relations with the Hague Tribunal, Djapic said the Tribunal had
become a means of political pressure on Croatia and requested that
the ruling party and the Opposition Six take a clear stand on the
Tribunal's requests.
Commenting on a statement by the coordinator for the Opposition
Six, Vlado Gotovac, that there is a possibility that an indictment
may be issued against Djapic because he called on the Croatian Army
to protect Croatia's interests, that is, to carry out a coup d'etat,
Djapic said he was ready to defend the veracity of his statements
before Croatian courts.
When I said that the Croatian Army had to respond, should Croatian
army generals be extradited to the Hague Tribunal, I meant that the
Croatian Army Supreme Commander and President of the State, Franjo
Tudjman, had to respond. I did not call on the Croatian Army to carry
out a coup d'etat, as is being ascribed to me by Mr Gotovac. I
requested that the Croatian Army and its supreme commander protect
the interests of Croatia and the Croat people, Djapic said.
