OSIJEK, Aug 19 (Hina) - As many as 142 square kilometres are mine-suspected areas in Osijek-Baranja County and one of the most important projects aimed at reducing mine-suspected areas is the EUR 3.5 million "De-mine" project aimed at the removal of mines along the Croatian-Hungarian border in Baranja.

These plans were the main topics of talks between County Prefect Vladimir Sisljagic and Croatian Mine Action Centre (HCR) officials in Osijek on Friday.

The project will be carried by the HCR in the eastern Croatian town of Draz and by the police from the Hungarian region of Baranya, with financial assistance from European Union funds for cross-border cooperation.

Sisljagic announced a conference on mine removal efforts and on raising funds for that purpose, to be held in Osijek in September.
