The meeting's director, Ivana Brkljacic, said at a news conference that the event would be viewed in 150 countries worldwide which she described as great promotion of the city of Zagreb and Croatia.
The 100-metre sprint in Zagreb will be this season's first and last 100-metre race Bolt will run after the Athletic World Championships in Daegu, Korea, to be held from 27 August to 4 September, said Brkljacic.
According to a statement issued on the web site of the International Association of the Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Monday, this world record holder "will compete in the 100m at Zagreb's IAAF World Challenge meeting on 13 September before returning to Brussels." Bolt will be in Zagreb before competing in the 200m at the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme, the final leg of the Samsung Diamond League, on 16 September.
Bolt competed in the Zagreb meeting in 2006, when he won the 200m sprint.
Brkljacic said that the meeting's budget would be HRK 5.3 million (approx EUR 716,216). The City of Zagreb will provide three million kuna, and the rest will be covered by sponsors and funds from broadcasting fees.
