PRISTINA, Aug 30 (Hina) - The newly-appointed US Ambassador to the United Nations, Richard Holbrooke, and the commander of the international police in Kosovo, Svenad Frederikson, on Monday visited parts of Pristina with the highest
rates of cases of harassment of local Serbs and Gypsies. Holbrooke said the establishment of a police force in Kosovo was one of the most urgent tasks of the U.N. Mission. The US diplomat today ends his three-day visit to Kosovo, after which he will visit Skopje, Tirana and Sarajevo. Yesterday, Holbrooke held separate talks with international representatives and Kosovo Albanians and Serbs. He supported the work of the U.N. Civil Commission in the province and was given assurances that the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVK) would complete the demilitarisation and transformation process within the set deadlines.
