FERRY ON PLOMIN-VENICE ROUTE MAKES FIRST PROMOTIONAL SAILING

PLOMIN, Aug 20 (Hina) - The "Pegasus Two" ferry on Friday made its first promotional sailing from a newly built ferry dock in Plomin, a port on the eastern coast of the Istrian peninsula, in Croatia's northern Adriatic. The ferry was headed for Venice. Aboard "Pegasus Two", the capacity of which is 170 vehicles and 170 passengers, were some 20 guests from Croatia's power utility company HEP, the Plominholding company, and local community representatives. The opening of the newly built dock in Plomin marked the end of the first stage of "Ferry Dock in Plomin Bay", a project initiated to realise HEP's idea of a "friendly environment on power supply objects' locations." This was also the first step in the realisation of a joint project of preparations for the next tourist season which includes Croatian companies Plomin Linija, Plominholding, Kvarneric, and Italian Padova-based company Argio. According to Croatian-Italian partners' plans, the ferry should start sailing on the Plomin-Venice-Plomin and Plomin-Ravenna- Plomin routes as of October 1. The ferry is intended for the transport of trucks, cars, and passengers. Between May 15 and mid-September next year, one of its stops will also be Mali Losinj, also in Croatia's northern Adriatic.
