CAKOVEC CAKOVEC, July 27 (Hina) - Employees of the Medjimurska Banka in Cakovec, northern Croatia, discovered six forged British pound banknotes while counting money, Cakovec police reported on Tuesday. The forging procedure is rather
unusual because the perpetrator used five-pound banknotes on which the number 5 was changed into 50 and the word 'five' into 'fifty'. The forged banknotes were exchanged for kuna in a privately-owned exchange office. The employee who exchanged the banknotes did not find anything peculiar about them since an ultra-violet device showed that they were genuine. The forgeries have been sent to the Croatian National Bank for further inspection.(hina) rml
