PRISTINA, July 17 (Hina) - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) gathered data on about 2,000 Kosovo Albanians detained in Serb prisons, ICRC officials reported on Saturday. Representatives of the ICRC are keeping
contact with prisoners with permission from Serb authorities. On June 25, the Red Cross officials released 166 Kosovo Albanians who had been held in two Serbian prisons. Since then, the Red Cross has been contacting the prisoners on regular basis and has data on another 2,000 detainees, their names and the list of prisons they are held in. The ICRC members have visited at least 400 detainees so far, and they will continue to visit them in the upcoming days. The exact number of detained people is believed to be much higher.
