ZAGREB, July 8 (Hina) - The director of Simon Wiesenthal Centre, Efraim Zuroff, on Thursday called on the Croatian Government to open an investigation against Mirko Eterovic, a retired professor. In a letter to Croatia's Ambassador to
Israel, Svjetlan Berkovic, Zuroff urged the Croatian authorities to establish whether Eterovic had already entered the country and to thoroughly investigate his activities as the commander of the Supetar prison on the island of Brac and as an Ustashi official in Nova Gradiska, the Centre reported. An advisor with the Croatian Embassy in Israel, Mario Martinovic, confirmed that the embassy had received Zuroff's letter. Eterovic on Wednesday left Argentina for Brazil by plane, after the Argentinean government last week announced that it would banish him from the country on the basis of reports saying he had been a commander of concentration camps in Croatia.(hina) rml
