SARAJEVO, July 7 (Hina) - The new national anthem of Bosnia-Herzegovina went into force on Wednesday in line with a decision by High Representative Carlos Westendorp. Westendorp adopted this decision on June 25, after the House of
Peoples of the state parliament failed to confirm a law on the national anthem which had been adopted by the House of Representatives, on the basis of offers submitted in a public competition. The anthem, composed by a music professor Dusan Sestic from Banja Luka, does not have any lyrics because there was no public competition for the lyrics. So far, the composition "Jedna si jedina" (The one and only) was performed on all formal occasions in parts of the country with the majority Bosniak population. Bosnia's Croats and Serbs used the Croatian and Serbian national anthems "Lijepa nasa" (Our beautiful homeland) and "Boze pravde" (The Lord of Justice) respectively.(hina) rml
