ZAGREB, July 1 (Hina) - A ban on import of animals and food of animal origin in Croatia from Belgium, the Netherlands and France is still in effect, said an Assistant Agriculture Minister, Mate Brstilo, at a news conference on
Thursday. All samples controlled by the Croatian Veterinary Institute were negative, and they were examined by methods proposed by the European Commission. A representative of the Institute said it had so far analysed 14 samples. Speaking about the Ministry's activities in relation to the dioxin scare, Brstilo said the control of products imported in the first five months of this year had been reinforced. This control refers to produce made in Belgium from 15 January to 30 May this year. The ministry also insists that all food items of animal origin which are imported in Croatia should have the certificate of licensed state laboratories about the test of dioxin. Accord
